  • The Unisender key is entered once and reused across projects.
  • Totals by launch month plus a campaign table with subject, date and list.
  • Newsletters share one report with Metrica and ads, plus AI insights and branding (not on every plan).

TL;DR

Unisender integration: paste the API key from your account settings once on the integrations page, pick the account in a project, and campaign results for the period go to the client as a link or PDF alongside ads and website analytics.

A Unisender report instead of account screenshots

Unisender is popular with small businesses, online stores and agencies that want a friendly email builder and list segments without in-house development. Reporting on it is usually manual: open each campaign, copy the open and click rates, note unsubscribes, grab a chart screenshot. Reportkey removes that chore. It reads account statistics through the official Unisender API and builds a section of a recurring report that reaches the client on schedule as a link or PDF.

Ads and on-site behaviour can sit in the same document, so the conversation moves from a nice open rate to what the email channel contributed alongside other traffic sources.

Connecting Unisender with an API key

The key lives in the Unisender account under account settings, Integrations and API. Copy it and paste it on the Reportkey integrations page. The connection is checked immediately and saved as a shared account you can select in any project. An agency with several clients adds one connection per Unisender account and picks the right one in each project.

Unisender does not offer read-only keys; a key opens the whole account. Reportkey only calls the statistics and campaign list methods and never sends mail or edits contacts. If the key is reset in Unisender, the connection is flagged for re-authorisation: paste the new key and project settings stay as they were.

Unisender campaign statistics: which fields reach the report

First, getCampaigns returns the campaigns for the period: ID, start time in UTC, status, subject, sender and the list used. Then getCampaignCommonStats is called for each campaign, and its nine fields become the block metrics:

  • Sent and delivered — campaign volume and how many messages the receiving mail server accepted.
  • Unique and total opens — how many subscribers read the email and how many times it was opened overall.
  • Unique and total clicks — link clicks, the clearest sign that an email did its job.
  • Unsubscribes — people who left the list after this send.
  • Spam complaints — “report spam” marks in mail clients, a key number for sender reputation.

Delivery rate, open rate, CTR and CTOR are derived from these, and each rate is shown next to its absolute count so the client sees both the percentage and the scale.

Opens and clicks by campaign

The monthly total answers how the channel is doing; the campaign table answers what worked. Each row shows subject, launch date, list, unique and total opens and clicks, unsubscribes and spam. Sorting by clicks reveals which subjects and offers resonate with the base, and an email that triggers an unusual number of unsubscribes stands out at once.

A separate delivery quality block shows the delivered share, unsubscribe share and complaint share per campaign. Rising complaints are an early warning: deliverability usually drops after them.

Why report numbers differ from what the client expects

Unisender statistics are cumulative. A monthly report includes campaigns launched that month with reactions as of the build date, not only events inside the month, so a send on the 30th shows just its first opens. Opens also include clickers, uniqueness is per campaign, and launch dates arrive in UTC, so a late evening send in Moscow may land on the next day. The report labels these points so the discussion stays on substance.

Email marketing report for clients: newsletters next to the website

Unisender knows who clicked but not what they did next. Add goals and visits in Yandex Metrica or events in Google Analytics 4 filtered by email tags, and Roistat end-to-end analytics when the client asks about money. Transactional store email fits a separate block from Unisender Go. Other mailing tools are listed on the email integrations page; see a multi-channel example in the in-house team demo report and plans with a 14-day free trial on pricing.

Use cases

Why teams connect Unisender to Reportkey

Real reporting jobs, typical pain points, and the outcomes teams get from Unisender in client reports.

Pain points
  • Each month the email specialist opens every Unisender campaign card and copies sends, opens and clicks into a client spreadsheet.
  • Open rates live in one file while website visits and leads live in another, so the link between newsletters and sales is explained verbally.
  • With a dozen campaigns a month it is easy to miss a send or count one twice, and the report total drifts away from the account.
Unisender
An agency running a client's email channel

Every client has a project with the key of their own Unisender account. Once a month the client receives totals for all campaigns launched that month, a ranking of emails by clicks and the unsubscribe share, and the account manager adds a note on which subject lines to reuse.

Unisender
An online store with an in-house marketer

Newsletters to the customer base go out from Unisender while paid search runs in Yandex Direct. Management gets a weekly document with email clicks, email-channel visits in Yandex Metrica and search spend side by side.

The report replaces screenshots of the statistics tab: every campaign is listed with its subject, launch date and result. The client does not need a Unisender login to see whether the last promotion worked.

How to connect

Three steps to the first report

Connect the account once, choose the reporting scope, and save the setup for recurring client reports.

01
Connect the account
Save the Unisender connection once so the same datasource can be reused across recurring client reports.
02
Choose the reporting scope
Choose the Unisender account and mailings that should supply delivery, opens, and clicks to the report.
03
Save the setup and generate the report
Keep the selected scope in the project and reuse the same report setup next time instead of connecting the source again.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about how the integration works in Reportkey today.

What do I need to connect Unisender to Reportkey?
An API key from your Unisender account, found under account settings, Integrations and API. Paste it once on the integrations page and reuse it in any project. Unisender has no read-only keys, so treat the key like an account password; Reportkey only calls statistics and campaign list methods with it.
Why are unique opens higher than the client expected?
Unisender counts a recipient as a reader if they opened the email or clicked a link in it, even when images were blocked and the tracking pixel never loaded. Unique opens therefore include clickers, and CTOR is calculated from that wider base. The report uses the same label Unisender does.
Why does sent minus delivered not equal bounces?
The campaign summary has no separate undelivered field. The gap between sent and delivered covers both bounces and messages still in transit, and it shrinks over the first hours or days. Judge list quality on campaigns that are at least a week old.
How fresh is the campaign data?
Campaign statistics are cumulative: opens and clicks keep arriving for days after launch. Reportkey requests the numbers when the report is built, so a newsletter sent on the last day of the month appears with only its first reactions. Per-recipient delivery detail in Unisender covers campaigns no older than 180 days.
Can I add up unique recipients across all campaigns in a month?
No. Uniqueness is counted inside each campaign. One subscriber who opened four newsletters produces four unique opens in four rows, so the column total measures reactions, not people.
Does the report show revenue from emails?
Unisender stops at the click and returns no orders or revenue. Money from the email channel shows up in web analytics through campaign tags, or in an end-to-end analytics tool you can add to the same report.
